| Linux+
is a CompTIA (Computer Technology Industry Association) certification program
for Linux operating system technicians. Linux is rather different from most commonly
used operating systems in that it was originally developed by a Finnish student,
to be compatible with small UNIX operating systems; he worked on it for 3 years
and then released the source code for free general availability. It has continued to be developed under the GNU General Public License. Because of its ease of portability across hardware platforms Linux is particularly useful for networking, software development and as an end-user platform. Linux+ gives certification at a basic level; testing the installation, maintenance and operation skills of technicians with 6 months or more experience in the field. | ||||||
